About Tamara
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. I have had the honor of serving children, their parents, and adults in a variety of therapeutic settings, including school, community, and non-profit organizations. I specialize in providing developmentally responsive counseling services for young children who are struggling emotionally and behaviorally.
My approach is person-centered, meaning that our sessions will be guided by your individual needs. I believe that authenticity, understanding, and compassion are foundational to growth, and my goal is to facilitate a therapeutic environment in which children and adults experience the safety and freedom to work toward healing.
I enjoy incorporating play, creative and expressive activities, and talk therapy into my sessions. I operate from a social justice and LGBTQ+ affirming framework, and I strive to support and empower clients in their wellness journey.
I hold a master’s degree in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University, and a doctorate degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas. I hold training and experience in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT). In addition, I also serve as an Adjunct Professor for master’s counseling students.
Tamara is currently able to see clients with OHP/Care Oregon insurance. Tamara also accepts private pay; offering a 25% discount for same day payment as well as a sliding scale for all other clients.
